When the Bundle Ends, Montana Still Has No Forms to Mail
Montana registered agent representation, billed at $99 per year. Includes the office address on your filings, same-day scanning of legal mail, and reminders for state deadlines.
You have landed on a competitor's page, and we would rather put that in the opening line than bury it near the bottom. Registered Agent MT.org charges $99 a year to hold a Montana appointment, so a Bizee bundle that expires in our direction is a good day here. The Bizee figures below are Bizee's own published numbers as of a July 2026 review.
Included Months Are Genuinely Included
Bizee, which sold formations under the Incfile name before the rebrand, packages registered agent coverage into its LLC formation orders at no separate charge. The covered stretch runs three months on the entry package and reaches a full twelve on the top one. If you were going to organize a Montana LLC anyway, that is money you did not spend, and we are not going to argue it away. A bundle with real value inside it is a bundle with real value inside it.
What Changes on the Day It Ends
Standalone service begins at $149 a year the moment the included window closes. Two things about that deserve attention.
The first is the number itself, which is $50 above what we charge for the identical statutory duty, repeating annually for the life of the entity.
The second is the date, which is different for every buyer. A three-month window and a twelve-month window end in different quarters, and yours is set by whichever package you happened to purchase and the day your formation was filed. We are not going to make any claim about how or whether you get reminded, because we have no way to verify that. What we can say is that the date exists, it is specific to you, and keeping track of it is your job rather than anybody else's.
Montana Retired Its Paper in 2017
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereThis matters more here than in most states, and it is the thing national help articles get wrong about Montana constantly.
There are no forms. Not obscure forms, not hard-to-locate forms. None. Montana stopped accepting paper business filings in 2017 and pushed everything onto one website, biz.sosmt.gov, entered with an ePass Montana account. Because nothing is printed, nothing is numbered, so any instruction telling you to mail Montana form such-and-such with a check attached was written for a filing system this state shut down years ago.
What Montana does insist on is the address. Under Mont. Code Ann. § 35-7-104, any filing naming an agent must give a real Montana street address, or a rural route box number, and nothing less. A post office box standing on its own does not satisfy it. That single requirement is the entire product any registered agent is selling you, whether the invoice says $99 or $149.
Our Side of It
| Bizee | Registered Agent MT.org | |
|---|---|---|
| Bundled period | 3 to 12 months free with formation | Not applicable |
| Standalone annual rate | $149 | $99 |
| Rate at renewal | $149 | $99 |
The $99 buys a compliant Montana street address for the public record, court papers scanned on arrival, a portal that keeps every document we have handled, and a nudge before the April 15 report deadline. Enrollment is one item with nothing bundled behind it.
Cheapest is a word we avoid here. BetterLegal has $90 in print and that sits below our figure. The accurate description is a rate among the lowest published in Montana, with renewal invoices identical to the first.
Moving Off Bizee: One Paragraph, One Link
Montana's Statement of Change updates whichever line is wrong, the office, the agent, or the two of them, travels through the state portal to the Business Services Division, and Montana's published schedule attaches no fee to it. Sign us up before you open the portal, because the entry names an arrival rather than recording a departure, and Montana expects the seat occupied the entire time. Fields and verification step: our change of agent page.
The consequence of a free exit is worth stating plainly, because it changes how you should treat that expiry date. Nothing about moving early costs more than moving late. The end of your bundled months is not a trap to escape ahead of a penalty; it is simply the day a $149 charge would begin, and you get to decide in advance whether that is a number you want on the books.
